War versus Love,
So much in common,
Verses enough,
All that pushing and shoving,
Tears and sweat enough,
All that grunting and moaning,
Screams enough,
All that pain and anguish,
Dreams enough,
All that blood and bleeding,
Life and death enough,
So much bonding,
Curses enough,
Twisted out of shape,
Kissing and gripping life by the nape,
Strangulation comes close at every dawn,
Deep in the placid forest the doe with her fawn,
A love bed with all its trenches and eruptions,
A battlefield glistening with bloodied remains,
So war and love,
Consumed by consumption,
All those corrupt war refrains,
Strained by all that love assumption,
All those commanding bombs and blasts,
All that writhing give and take,
Feral love e'en unto surrender,
Terrible war demands retribution,
All those dead and dying doves of peace and lore,
I wonder if love is a lasting solution,
What could passionate war remake?
How much compassion would love take?
Now the moon hides its face in shame,
Soon the rational sun will refuse to shine again,
Making irrational love and fashionable war,
We simply wake insane.
