it seems
things
this time
in history
is nothing less
than biblical
but then
life on earth
is always
and always
has been
biblical
nothing less
than history
penned
by the finger
fist of God
forever
a lengthy list
nothing lingers
every mystery
a detective novel
no solution
is ever easy
but then
life is always
a challenge
be it
floods
fires
hurricanes
cyclones
tornadoes
earthquakes
volcanoes
pestilence
famine
war
and more
like weather
that will
tear
your clothes off
dismember
your life
politics
that will
move boundaries
rewrite history
all those mysteries
like religion
and fanaticism
fueled by
ignorance
mismanagement
capitalism
communism
greed and disharmony
creating
so much wealth
so often
a shark frenzy
feeding
upon the masses
fleecing
peoples pockets
the rich
get richer
clinking champagne glasses
drinking luxury and sin
while
the poor
stay poor
everywhere
predators
stalking
every street
monitoring
where
people meet
a big mouthful
of mindlessness
mingling
with despotism
final authority
like corporate
dictatorship
ruling
the masses
such a vast labyrinth
of deception
and disease
this viral world
we exist in
survival
becomes
the name
of the game
but such is life
is
and always
has been
it seems
there are more
cloudy days
now
less sunshine
and fewer birds
than there were
then there are
those explosions
bombs
artillery and tanks
wasting
blasting
every thing
that had value
inflicting destruction
tearing apart
a struggling
civilized world
all this evil
offensively unfurled
some people
hide away
holes in the ground
cellars and dank basements
in hidden caves
isolated
trying
to avoid
death and pain
praying
the war
will end
others
know
many are sick
giving up
wanting to end
distress and pain
misery
is a fatal mistress
everything
suffers
everything
struggles
just to survive
to live
here
on planet earth
for what life
is truly worth
only God
knows for sure
when the world ends
and prayers
are said and sent
that's when
we discover
discreetly
depending
on what room
we are in
that the only thing
that's honestly real
is fleeting true love
that we humans
sometimes feel
