summer had arrived
dawn and glory broke
once again I awoke
a fire still burning
deep inside
knowing peace
opens doors
still this energetic world
worn down by cruel war
savagery is something
we humans should abhor
yet a seething treatise
reflection in these early hours
could humanity do more
I watched a mythic serpent
slither through my open door
shedding its moral skin
a carnal reformation
information about kith and kin
something about hate and naked sin
tormenting our embittered dreams
consider all these broken mornings
I need to repent
consider all these token warnings
things don't progress
so it seems
neglected and rejected
glazed over and frozen
an ice age of misbegotten history
unsolved mysteries
hastily buried human remains
unspoken apologetic refrains
still the suns electric rays
steadily burns holes
branding our eclectic souls
those lasting wounds and scars
tears wash over human disrespect
what brash light and imperfection bring
flooding our disbelieving eyes
eternal prayers and constant fasting
rearranging my congressional self
I wonder how far truth might see
when conceptual free love
remains continually blind
what do foolish hearts feel
impaled and tormented
actions harsh and unkind
such boorish behaviour
our kind is one kind
reflecting my rebellious mind
species human being
everything we do and see
sometimes discouraged and discontented
compressed and depressed
other times compassion and empathetic
so much impressive war to be lamented
all those starving homeless birds
stress and more stress
diminishing glaciers and bleaching coral
wonderful things we have forgotten
beautiful songs and how to sing
acquisitive activities greed brings
selfish corporations that are immoral
just what should each new dawn bring
something magical and remarkable
graffiti remarking on a back alley mural
or something more contemptible
even beyond redemption
can justice be near at hand
without divine reconnection
life should cultivate
a sacred garden
love a lasting peace
shower harmony and joy
across every war torn land
