Ode To Australia

Australia slips hot, swelling into summer's cresting wave,
Humid nights thus blossom, insects chirp, keep good time,
Far across God's deep blue ocean, where courage musters brave,
Blessed magpies score one's name, aft the storm, scratched in perfect rhyme.

Too true! To wit! Twas carnal love! Across Australia's galaxy,
Sea green, reef bends light with envy, ne'er gathers spectral dust,
So proof we seek, soft spoken still, charms Euclid's vegan fallacy,
Enchanted moon deludes equation, as song lines seal tribal trust.

Cry out! Serenade Uluru's normalcy, despite nature's originality,
Still summer runs ahead, forged with bushmen's quaint respite,
Southern climes ignore the dread, while dog days bark finality,
Behold the honeyed light! Address the blessed rain! Define the dingo night.

Boomerangs and shaggy kangaroo round the lighthouse twist,
Strong Emu stride in quantum bliss, across the ruddy scarp,
Whilst Kookaburra squawk once, twice, then thrice, accost each morning mist,
Yet Yuwaalaraay poke the crimson earth, as eucalypts pluck the perch of Rosella's harp.

Rapt ratbags school the frothy schooner, jest the stickybeak,
As Koori pace the outback, and yobbos strine the thingos,
True surfies part the sea wasps, as bunyips caaarn the meek,
Bushrangers have a Captain Cook, while cobbers milk the bingos.

Come good, the jolly swagman, as summer bends the light,
Hot days swelter, bronzed spunkies sunbake on Bondi beach,
Wombats tour the back o'Bourke, while salties lurk at night,
Still Australia day, marks that summer haze, beyond Antarctic reach.
