these daunting shadows
where we hide
mind shallow water
after each receding tide
wading through
our reticent fear
we want to deny it
we're caught up
in raging rapids
so many drowning
in rip tides
so much hate and desperation
let's escape into oblivion
canyons with weeping walls
I'm almost human
with crystal vision
drifting into rifts
like falling snow
masking ice
covering secret malls
sometimes I see
sometimes hear
discrete voices
replete with warning calls
midst storms and driving rain
raging rivers into writhing oceans
washing us away
places where we try to hide
try circumventing and navigating
unforgiving shadows
where we try to love
where we want to reside
sometimes outside
this shadowy existence
sometimes deep inside
it can be appalling
blinded by blazing sunshine
drying out our brazen dreams
but when the sky is falling
shadows it seems
blistered by crazy strife
engaging some incineration
disclose conditional times
dreaming up incentive
even inventive ideals
all those body realms
markedly spaced
by such bold rhymes
defaced by resentment
displacing ego's rhythm
replaced and embarking
on all these body crimes
remarking on discontent
but my third eye vision
beauty is more
an oracle of body matter
resonating deeper
than skin deep
all that sublime self love
so often shattered
this madness of self hate
sadly subterranean
keeping us subhuman
these deep shadows
all that dark embodies
shallow cuts and deep incisions
unwanted yet revealing
all this haunting
life's deep decisions
